color photoshop cs3 Questions
How to replace gray color in photoshop cs3?
I’m creating shirts and I got a template over deviantart.com where the shirt is gray in color. I want to change it into red but
1. using the color replacement tool, it only makes the shirt pink even if the color is set to red, or
2. it just turns to a darker/lighter shade of gray through image > adjustments > replace color.
My image is in 8-bit RGB mode and it’s not in greyscale.
Couple ways:
- Make a selection of the shirt area.
- Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation – you might need to use the ‘Colorize’ mode
- Make another layer and set it to Multiply blending mode.
- Paint inside this layer with your chosen color. It will blend with the existing shading.
- Use the Color Replacement method you already tried to get it pink.
- Image > Adjustments> Levels
- Deselect the red channel, and drag the midpoint slider down (this should only affect the green and blue channels) to get a darker shade. Experiment with each individual channel to get the tone you want.
GretagMacbeth Chart using a software cd or just the chart itself?
I’ve looked on amazon and it comes with the card itself and then there is a separate software that you need to purchase as well. Do I need to buy the software for it as well or just the color checker chart?
I already have a calibrator (Pantone Huey). I want to make sure I can reproduce all colors perfectly (or best as I can). Any tips on how to use the the color chart in Photoshop CS3 is great as well. Thanks in advance.
I suppose you are referring to the GretagMacbeth Eye One Pro color management system. If so, you will need their color chart plus their software and related hardware all working together. The system can build color profiles for your digital camera/back, monitor, printer and paper. Once completed, you should be able to get pretty close color reproduction, but not 100%, I believe it is impossible to capture and then reproduce color “perfectly” with existing technology. I personally prefer the Macbeth system over Pantone. I assume you know how to build and use color profiles.
