Building a directory type site with dreamweaver 8. You have either files or folders….?
I know folders contain other pages, but can’t you get the folder to be a page or something?
so my site is www.referredlocal.com. For future growth, and organization purposes I would like to build parts of my site like a directory because we are entering into around 30 towns and two states. Later a few more states and a lot more towns. So I want people to go to the main page, find a category, find a state and then a town. Just like say dmoz although not a directory in that since. But if I start a folder off of the root of the site called states, it is still just a folder, not a page that you can select states. I know I could put files in that folder called kansas, missiouri…the problem is it would look like this www.referredlocal.com/states/kansas…….., but in the url states is only for organization, states is nothing in the site. I hope someone understands what I’m trying to say, and can point me in the right direction. Thanks
In each folder you can put a index.html file. When someone navigates into a folder the index.html page will automatically display by default. This page can then have links that lead to other files or subdirectories.
