Basic Tips: Creating Background For Twitter
A Custom Twitter Background can make a real impression and boost your brand but how does one make one? In this guest post I am going to share some suggestions on how to make your own.
The main problem you can face when planning a Twitter background is that your Twitter homepage will look quite different on various monitors at diverse resolutions. According to stats, the bulk of users have a screen resolution of 1024×768 or higher, so I’m going to take the freedom of planning a background at that resolution and utterly ignore 800×600. It is tricky luck for those older monitor users.
These are the general standard measures accepted by majority of Twitter background designers :
Image width : 1255 pixels
Image height : 555 pixels
Left graphic width : 245 pixels
Right graphic width : 250 pixels
Presuming you being a blogger and aiming to build a private brand through Twitter, your custom background for Twitter should have your logo, your photo, your blog’s URL and your slogan. So these are the main ingredients and now we can start!
Photoshop, Fireworks, or Paint, it doesn’t matter. All you need to do is to make a new graphic that’s 1255 x 555. This is going to be the background image for your Twitter profile. You need to leave Twitter post area empty. If you know the way to employ a guide, then create a vertical guide at 450 pixels and another vertical guide at 1005 pixels. The space between these 2 represents the Twitter post area.
If you don’t know how to employ a guide, just draw two fanciful vertical guides and leave the area between them blank. You need to find your blog’s URL, your photograph, your symbol, and your slogan out of this sector so that it will not clash with the Twitter post area. You can try a couple of times for the best result, so you should be patient.
Done? Now save your graphic as either a GIF or JPG file. Ensure that the file size is less than 800K. This is the maximum size allowed by Twitter for a background image.
